I've always seen my mother place cuttings in a glass of water in a sunny
area. She would keep them there until the roots had formed before
potting
them. If she had to transport a cutting, she would put it in a plastic
bag with some water in it and the cutting wrapped in a paper towel. I've
rarely seen my mother have a cutting that did not sprout roots.
