You mean those 3" long critters that pop out of the drawer next to the kitchen
sink everytime there's a heavy rain?  The ones that stroll into the house when
you open the door to let the pets in?  Nothing but a heavy weight works on
those!    First one of those I saw scared the **** out of me and made me
wonder what kind of place Houston was <G>.  I've found stories of them are
pretty effective for preventing unwanted visits by relatives, though, so they
aren't ENTIRELY useless <G>.
