Tincture of myrrh is not always a tincture (alcohol based) plus I was at
the store the other day looking up Bach flower remedies and there is now a
line of non alcoholic tinctures as well.
Tincture of Myrrh, is a resin that has been dissolved in some carrier not
necessarily alcohol. For some waters, perfumes and other noninternal
fluids, tincture of myrrh can be used..... Myrrh can also be powdered and
added to hot oil and dissolved or you can use pure Myrrh oil as well. If
you do use it make sure that's it's carrier is not acetone. Acetone is in
ert in the body and very often it's what used to make resin oils. Sorry,
I wasn't clear.

Grapefruit seed extract is used usually with a glycerine carrier.

For a great many people who can't have alcohol, we often made tinctures
using vinegar when I worked in the herb store..... Some of the chemical
properties of certain herbs can only be extracted in non water.
