I discovered this one quite by accident. I was tasting a liquor I had made
to see how well it was aging, and suddenly realized that my aching tummy
felt much better.
Basic liquor recipie for fruits
Fruit of choice. If rind is bitter, then peel the fruit.
Chop into small pieces.
Place into jar with lid.
Cover with Vodka or brandy.
Allow to sit for a period of time - usually until Vodka tastes like fruit.
basic times
Tea (Earl Grey) 15 minutes
most fruits 6 weeks to a year
nuts a year
strain vodka, save fruit to add to a pound cake recipie
add sugar syrup, one cup syrup to one cup vodka
The strength of the syrup depends on how sweet the vodka becomes and
personal taste. It may be made 1 to 2, 1 to 1, or 2 to 1 sugar to water.
This will make a basic sweet liquor.
To spice the liquor, add whole cloves and cinnammin sticks, allow to set
for one week or less, and strain.
Tummy ache liquor
Cover fresh cranberries with vodka. Allow to sit for 6 weeks to three
months.
strain, add sugar syrup, strength of sweetness to your personal taste, one
cup syrup to one cup vodka. (with cranberries I like 2 to 1, sugar to
water for the syrup).
Add whole cloves and cinnammin sticks, wait one week, and remove.
I have found that unspiced cranberry will help an upset stomache, and some
of my other spiced fruit liquors will help, but the spiced cranberry is by
far the best. It takes less than 1/2 ounce to do the trick. For me, it
works best with indigestion troubles, but has also been of benefit with
stomache bugs, as well.
I have won a contest or two with my spiced liquors, So at least some people
think that they turn out nicely. Have fun and experiment.
