Detroit-ish. I was wondering about the cool weather myself, but *shrug*
St. John's Wort is one plant I can identify once it's growing. I'm guessing
they were mistaken about the SJW, but I know they think they have the
echinacea plant because I found the tag with the flower's pic in the dirt. :)

Owners mentioned that they had tried to plant a perrenial garden, but Max
the Black Lab decided his vegetarian habits were more important. So, to
be honest, they're not really even sure what might have survived the
winter. Regardless, by the time we move in (assuming we can), it will
be too late to do any of the real plant planning I'd hoped to do. I'll work
on ammending the soil, planting some fall crops and such, and planning a
garden for *next* year.
