HERB - Sassafrass

On a related note, what's the largest sassafras tree you've seen? 
There's a humongous one on the grounds of the PA Ren Faire, and I goggle
at it every time I go (which is quite often, since I work there in the
fall).  Which leaves should I pick for a good tea, and when?  None of my
books have a decent recipe.  Sigh....
