   I don't have it here but from Macer (Germany, 1200, Latin verse)
Clean teeth with ashes of vine branches.
He also reports what can only be a charm: for a toothache, dig up balm
(_Melissa_) without using iron, touch it to the tooth three times, each
time spitting, and replace the plant (still without using iron) in the
ground and if the plant lives you will surely no longer be bothered with
the tooth ache.

"The powder of a dry rose helps against sores of the mouth.  Powder of rose
flowers, rubbed on the lips or mixed in honey is good for cracked lips and
gums."
