HERB - Poison Ivy help

Thanks for the clarification on the liquid doesn't spread the poision ivy.  ( 
I call it ooze.)  It's one big blister, the doctor lanced it.  Question. Why 
would the doctor tell my husband to put saran wrap over the blister after he 
medicated it, and before he wrapped it with a bandage?
