HERB - Beeswax

Greetings,
           I am new to the list so please forgive me if I am asking
about a topic that has already been discussed.
I have been looking for proof that beeswax was used in herbal
preparations ( in the making of salves, lotions, etc.) before say 1600.
Has anyone come across this? If so, could you point me in the right
direction?
