Greetings Jill,
I know that your question went to Lynette, but I have a few suggestions to
offer, if you would like...

Palpitations and panic attacks frequently occur in menopausal women, and some
foods just aggravate the problem.
Any kind of caffeine (coffee, tea, pop, etc.) and Aspartame (Nutra Sweet) will
bring on panic attacks to susceptible people, so if you're consuming those kinds
of things you may want to start checking labels for those ingredients; and then
think about phasing them out of your diet altogether.

Sage is known to mimic female hormones, and makes a useful supplement. Drink a
cup of standard infusion twice a day (no more). Fresh purple/red sage is
best.Standard infusions are made with one ounce dried, or 3 ounces fresh, herb
to one pint of boiling water. Let the mixture infuse for 10 minutes before
staining off the liquid and drinking. You can keep the unused portion well
enough in the fridge for about 24 hours.

Wild Yam is also a good thing to try. It too is supposed to mimic female
hormones. Your local GNC store should carry it in capsule form ~ check the
expiration date on the bottle before you buy.

Next one I have to offer is Hops. From what I've read, they contain a form of
estrogen. You can find fresh hops at your local brew shop. They should have them
stored in a refrigerator in the shop, and you should do that at home too. Make
sure they're fresh hops ~ perhaps you know someone who grows them? To use just
brew a standard infusion, like the sage. This might be good to alternate with
the Sage infusion.

Consider taking a good vitamin B complex.Rosemary is good to treat thinning and
falling hair. You could make a very strong infusion of Rosemary (increase amount
of herb to water), and use this as a hair rinse after washing. It stimulates the
scalp.

You can also make a compound oil of Rosemary to massage into the scalp:
Take fresh Rosemary (use good quality, dried if nothing else) and put it with
olive or almond oil in a double boiler. Make sure you have more herb than oil in
there. Keep the oil just warm for about 5-6 hours, then strain it through a
jelly bag. Squeeze the bag with your hands to get out every drop. Massage this
into your scalp and wrap in a hot towel. Leave on for about an hour before you
wash your hair. Oils keep well, when bottled and well corked, in a dark place.

You may want to consider something to lift your spirits a little.Lemon Balm tea
(or tincture) is great for this. Lemon Balm was once used not only to lift
spirits, but to restore memory.
I also hear that St. John's Wort has worked wonders for relieving stress (though
you shouldn't take this if you are on certain prescription drugs ).

The right kind of emotional support from good friends is another thing you may
consider "taking" to feel better.

I do hope some of this helps, and that you find the right treatments quickly.

Best wishes to you,
Isrith.
