IIRC there is no set recipe for Castille Soap, per se, but in all
honesty, I don't read the period languages, so I'm very well
wrong. In the corpus of English translated recipes, I'm fairly
certain there's not a single recipe that they called "Soap of
Castille" or "Castille Soap" as we consider it today. The highly
valued soap of the time, according to Tallow Maker guild
records and similar guild records (I'm trying to remember
which ones and where I read the information) indicate that
the best soap was *made* in Castille, not that the soap was
called Castille Soap or Soap of Castille based on a particular
recipe. I'm also remembering reading some information on
the quality of the Olive Oil as it pertained to soap made in
the Castille region. I believe that had some effect on the
belief that soap was better in Castille. I'll look through my
notes and if I find something I'll post them to the list.
