[Herbalist] poison ivy

Yep, cashews. Evidently there is an amino acid (?) in it that causes the same
reaction as poison ivy. I think it's worse if the cashews are raw.

I got a really bad reaction to cashews one winter, and the doctor figured that I
had poison ivy and had gotten into it from my grandmother's wood pile. I hadn't
been near the wood pile. The cashews were the only thing different in my diet,
I read later that year that they could cause a rash that looks similar to poison
ivy.

I do believe that poison oak reacts the same way. I've been lucky that I either
have not found any to get into or that I didn't inherit my father's
susceptibility to it.

BTW if you use some Fels Naptha Soap in the laundry with you regular detergent
that helps too. I grate some off with a food grater and add it to the wash
water.

Hope this helps,
Francesca
