properties of Myrrh are antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and astringent.  Any
of these but especially the combination of all three likely accounts for
your friends results.  The only caveat I would add is be aware Myrrh can
cause hypoglycemia in susceptible individuals.  So, I would suggest to avoid
it if diabetic or if prone to hypoglycemia.
