I generally rely heavily on Penelope Ody's _Complete Medicinal Herbal_ (published by Dorling
Kindersley) and Sarah Garland's _Complete book of Herbs and Spices_. Julia Lawless'
_Encyclopedia of Essential Oils_ is also good for safety data.
Dorling Kindersley just put out an Encyclopedia of Herbs or something of similar name... It's
very good, with very clear pictures, safety data, etc. And it includes directions with
step-by-step photographs of how to make common herbal preparations (so does Ody's book but I
think it's harder to find now).
