Oh, great... Padraig is not only an addict, but also a pusher!!
Now I'll have to sneak off to the library at lunch. I suppose I should
re-think my place of employment... I'm merely an elevator ride and a few
steps from the library, here in tower 2 of the Tandy center. Not a good
thing for someone who gets d.t.s if the morning newspaper isn't delivered on
time....

That puts me in mind of a book that I first read many years ago whose
central figures were an order of monks in a post-apocalyptic world. In the
early parts of the tale, one of their duties was book smuggling, trying to
maintain as much knowledge as possible in a society determined to burn all
books and eradicate all trace of technology. The book was A Canticle for
Lebowitz - an excellent read even if you're not into science fiction.
