Hey Suzanne!!
I moved from the valley about 10 years ago so I know
exactly how ya feel. Its kinda nice having weather
that holds moisture and isnt brown. Not to mention the
warnings to pregnant women about NOT drinking the
water in the valley. LOL and I know I dont miss
mowing the dirt in 100+ temps. Dont even get me
started on snowbirds, I lived outside of Sun City
(Where its perfectly legal to drive a golf cart on a
main street while taking a nap). I think snowbirds
should be considered poultry and thus open game during
the winter season. LOL.

I still have family in Chandler and Glendale so I cant
help but go back every now and then. All I did go to
Estrella War once, for one day and thought it was a
lot of fun. Which is why I am hoping to return just
for this event. *fingers crossed*

So nice to know that I am not the only import. Like
they say.. I may not have been born here but I got
here as fast as I could.

Cat,
Estrella War is in my old backyard! We moved from
Arizona last year. I
hear this is a great event. I never went to it when I
lived there as I am
new to SCA. There is also a Ren Faire in
February/March in Far East
Mesa/Gold Canyon.

I ran into Estrella Campers in the grocery store now
once. It used to be
held West of Phoenix near the Estrella mountains.
Last I heard it was held
in Queen Creek which is south of Mesa/Gilbert.

I won't be heading back. I miss my friends, but I
love Texas so much I just
don't miss Arizona at all. Well okay I miss the
mountains, and I miss
driving to the grand canyon in an afternoon. But I
don't miss the heat. Or
the snowbirds in the winter. Or the pollution in the
valley.

Suzanne
