Populace Notes May 4th 2005

We thank Dohmnall for his services as our Herald, and welcome Gryffudd with
open arms.

Open Office’s close for bids at May Officer’s meeting May 18th, 2005. Alric
and Bice have bid for Minister of Arts and Sciences, Viviane for Archery
Marshal, Tegwared for Hospitaler, and Padraig and Catrin for Seneschal.
Thank you one and all for your willingness to serve the Shire as Officers.

We had 2 designs submitted for the Gulf War gate one with castle-like
columns, and one with a Stonehenge look. The populace voted Stonehenge as
their 1st choice. These designs will be submitted to the Gulf War permanent
structure coordinator for approval.
The Populace determined that the following fund raisers would be instituted
to raise funds for gate construction: Aluminum can redemption (Alric will
coordinate), Jail and Stocks at Lughnasad (Tegwared will coordinate), Silent
Auction at Lughnasad (Gwen will coordinate), Guess how many water bottles it
takes to fill a pair of poofy pants (Dana will coordinate and hold all Gulf
War gate construction funds).

Design ideas for the Shire’s service award “The Ember” are due at May’s
Officer’s Meeting.

A motion was made and carried to alter the Shire’s plan to purchase a canvas
pavilion. We will now purchase 2 matching garage pavilions and use the
balance of funds available from their purchase to obtain curtains, drapes,
and decorations for a more period look.

We are leaving from Dana’s Sat May 8th at 9:30 am to return Shire property
to storage in Weatherford. If you have Shire property in your possession and
cannot make the trip, make sure that you deliver said property to either
Dana’s or Alric’s prior to the scheduled departure time.

There has been a problem with the availability of the meeting area at the
IHOP location for the past 3 months. By consensus the populace agreed to
explore other meeting locations. Proposed were: Ryan’s Steakhouse on Cherry
Ln., Golden Corral, and Empress café at I-35 and Seminary. There is also the
possibility of using Riveroaks Steakhouse on Riveroaks Blvd west of 199. If
you have other options please submit them to any officer prior to May 18th
for consideration.

Lughnasad: Competition details due to Kat for the web-site by June Populace.
Site Token designs are open for consideration, please submit ideas no later
than May Officer’s meeting.
There will be no Royal presence at the event. Armand and Ameline have
graciously consented to preside over our Court.
