Guardian of the Gauntlet is this weekend. Rapier Fighting, Great Food and a
wonderful opportunity to unwind and renew friendships.

The White Scarf Circle and Cadet's Corner will run simultaneously at 4:30 pm
following the completion of the Lyst AND at least 1.5 hours of prime
free-sparring/pickups.

After Feast and Court there will be a delightful Firespinning performance by
Sir Corwin and crew as well as a Halfa which has been coordinated by HL
Rhiannon.

Weather you ask? I walked down to our TV station's chief weather forecaster
Dr Neil Frank and he said the weather will be wonderful.

The current Weather forecast is....

Friday Night: Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of light showers. Lows
in the lower 60s.
Saturday: Partly cloudy. Highs in the lower 70s.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 40s.
Sunday: Partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 70s.

The camping is plentiful and spacious with plenty of trees and shade.

EVENT FLYER

When one thinks back on Ansteorran rapier history, premiere Kingdom-level
rapier events such as Queen's Champion, To Save a Queen, Roses, Squires and
Cadets, and Guardian of the Gauntlet spring to mind. Join Her Royal Majesty
Deanna, the Past Guardians, and the White Scarves at.

Guardian of the Gauntlet XIII
(and Guardian of the Glove III)
April 13-15, 2007

If you fight rapier, regardless of your level of experience, there is only
one place for you to be on this particular spring weekend: Guardian of the
Gauntlet XIII. The event will be held on the grounds of lovely Camp Camwood,
located just northwest of Houston, where the camping is guaranteed, the list
fields are spacious, the shade is plentiful, the camaraderie is assured, and
the weather is perfect. But, if in the most rare of circumstances, it
sprinkles, there is a HUGE permanent covered pavilion that can hold 4 list
fields and 200+ people, so the event is guaranteed, regardless of weather.

In addition, as a special treat after Feast and Court, there will be a Hafla
coordinated by HL Rhiannon, as well as firespinning by Sir Corwin and crew.

Fighting, Feast, Fire, and Fellowship. What more can one ask for?

Tournament Format: Triple Elimination, Wounds Retained. Each round is a
minimum of one Duel.

Specifics: Every entrant to the Lyst receives two challenge coins. If you
are killed or yield, you must give up one of the coins in order to fight in
the next round. In addition, when you use a coin, all wounds are cleared.
Once you use both coins, the tournament is over for you. So, technically, a
Duelist could use up both coins in the very first round against a single
opponent, although this is not recommended.

Wounds are retained, so, for example, in round one you could lose your hand
and leg, but end up winning the round. In round two, you would carry over
the same wounds. Then in round two, if you draw Don Blade and know that you
would need both your hand and leg to be competitive, you may yield and give
up one of your remaining coins before lay-on is called in order to clear all
your wounds, or you could fight with your wounds from the previous round.
Coins can be used only after a bout ends in a yield or death. Multiple
coins can be used one after the other in a single round. Utilized coins go
back to the Lyst Master.

Approach this list as you would Queen's Champion. It will still be your
skill with the blade and your commitment to Honor that will carry the day
and add your name to the illustrious list of the Guardians of the Gauntlet:
Tivar, Simonn, Conor, Ericus, Alaric, Eule, Durmast, Sebastian, Aeron, Shea,
Brendan, Pieter, and Modius.

The sumptuous four-course feast will be crafted by Dame Clara von Ulm,
cooking Laurel par excellence, so get your reservations in early through
ACCEPS (limited to the first 100).

First Course: Sausage and Mustard, Hearty Stew in Bread Bowls
Second Course: Herb Crusted Pork Loin, Frumenty, Braised Spring Greens
Third Course: Lombard Chicken Pastries, Spring Vegetables, Cheese
Dessert Course: Sugar plate, Quince Candy, Candied Orange Peel, Comfits

To all Youth Rapier fighters, the Guardian of the Glove list will also be
held this day and will run concurrently with the Guardian of the Gauntlet
list. Questions? Contact: Lord Brian O'hUilliam at 281-485-6649. Lastly,
we will also be holding a Toy for Tots raffle. Bring an unwrapped toy and
receive a raffle ticket for every toy donated.
