RE: July Populace
As a new comer who's not afraid to speak my mind, being that I'm usually very opinionated about all things, I would like to say I'm am so super stokes about that whole July populace thing. Over the weekend the hubby and I went to the Heraldic Symposium and love, love, loved it. I'd been to events before when I was in high school but really didn't know a lot about a lot. And my hubby was introduced the SCA by myself , loved the whole idea of SCA. It’s really is difficult getting started because there are SCA things to learn on top of the history part to learn that aren’t always talked about at the guilds them self. I found myself feeling a bit lost and like this just isn’t as much fun as it was when I first did it in High school. Until this weekend at the Symposium, we walked away from it feeling a lil more informed, and he even said that he's more excited about it now than he ever was and this was just the heraldic part of if. I love how we walked away with documents and info enough to go home and do the things we talked about our self and make it personal to us, and in some class walked away with a make example that we can use and keep through out our SCA life. So this is the type of thing myself and the hubby would love to see at this July meeting. Teach us simple thing that most of you already know like the court idea was awesome, maybe the leather working could ask us to bring a supply list of a certain amount of money and we could make belts and then some one could explain to up all the belt meanings, and ranks and such, I’d love some cooking, because I don’t think there is a guild for that, Persona development, examples of real life things we could pass for SCA, ex. SHOES, all the types of things that you need to get started and might need to know through out you entire SCA life. I know the hubby was turning flips over the fact that Sir Alexis maybe showing. I’ve so much I want to learn and hopefully pass down to other new comers, I just needa get started, jump in head first and absorb. It’s scary and difficult in the beginning ever for someone like me, and as you can see I have no problem speaking my mind, so I shutter for those who are. I can’t wait!!!! Only other thing I’d like to see is maybe when t gets closer a class schedule and material list or fee.
