The weekend of Thanksgiving is an event called the Baronesses' Toy
Tourney.  It is held at Camp Dakani, which is right behind Frontier City
in Oklahoma City.

This event is held by the landed and court baronesses of the area.  Site
fee is one unwrapped toy of a $5 value or more.  At times they have
charged another toy to enter different activities.  The group that has
the most toys wins.  Each group takes their toys back to their home
group and donates them to charitable organizations.

The event is only for the day and has fighting, archery, thrown weapons,
and more.  It ends in a pot luck.  While many people are on the road for
the holidays, some of the rest of us get a little bored with nothing to
do on a weekend.

This year it is Northkeep that is hosting it (though it is still at Camp
Dakani).  Baroness Mary Blackaxe is the event steward, Contessa Vanessa
is co-ordinating the pot luck, and Baroness Maleah is sponsoring the
rapier.

And for all you newer folks out there that may not know...  Her
Excellency and I have been inviting any and all to our house for
Thanksgiving for several years now.  We normally get sixty to eighty
people over the course of the day, whether to sit down and eat or just
stop in for pie and Trivial Pursuit.  It is with modern clothing, but
old fashion holiday neighborliness, and serious politics are not
allowed.  (Except for who gets to be on whose team for Trivial
Pursuit.)  As soon as Her Excellency can verify that she really gets
Thanksgiving off (hard to do it without her), we will let folks know
what time dinner starts.
