I believe that would be the sound of the uillean pipes (often accompanied by
tin whistles, flutes, dulcimers, etc) you are referring to, and yes they are
quite lovely. Some names you might look for, and there are many many others,
this is just what I can think of at the moment - Laura Powers, Altan, The
Chieftans, Planxty, Lunasa, Declan Masterson, Liam O'Flynn, Eric Rigler,
Paddy Keenan. Hastings should have some of these, Amazon.com has practically
everything. You can also go to www.greenlinnet.com , which has samples to
listen to.
