Greetings from Atlantia;
I went to my first event yesterday here in this fine Kingdom. It was
the Feast of St. Catherine and there was much to see and do. The
fighters had a bear pit timed fight for an hour, accumulating the most
kills. The heavies also had a mace tourney which was quite fun to
watch. For the lights there was also an hour timed kill tourney, but
you had to show killing skill in three different disciplines. Alas I
did not pay enough attention to the list to identify what all three
were.
There weren't a lot of merchants, but then again there weren't a lot
of attendees. About two hundred came and the feast, which was
incredible, was attended by the Prince and Princess (who originally
hails from Bjornsburg), three sets of Barons and Baronness's and a
bunch of other hats, to include a Duchess for balance.
There was a timed illumination competition, an A&S competition for
weaving, and everyone was showing off their handiwork throughout the
campsites. I have attached two photos of a chest that a couple made.
They are both MFAs and the plaques on the sides are incredibly details
and realistic depictions of gods and goddesses throughout history. HL
Tia is a Byzantine personna but mixes pagan dieties with christian
ones freely. From across the list field this chest looked like the
One True Ark of the Covenant, sans cherubs and the seat of God.
I was lucky enough to be allowed to serve and the fun in the hall was
quite roudy. The removes took over two hours to serve and consume and
no one left hungry. In fact everyone had to chance to take a medieval
doggy bag courtesy of Sir Baggie and Count Zip-Lock.
Last week I went to fighter practice, since I have been given
permission by my lovely partner to go back and mix it up with the
boys. There is one other female fighter in the Canton but the men
were quite chivalrous and when I snapped their heads they fell down.
(good thing because as a past squire from Ansteorra I can still make a
blow count)
I look forward to seeing any of you next year at Gulf Wars, but I fear
I'll be on this side of the wall. Have a great week. HL Brianna
Isleifsdottir.
