Monday night football parties...you're MORE than welcome to them! Happy joy joy...give US more time to do stuff that ya'll would just get in the way of...
HOWEVER, we have fighter practice most monday nights down this way....
Hmmm....Football....Fighter practice....
Which activitey is MORE testosterone friendly? YOU be the judge!

Knowing Sami to be generally sweet and inoffensive, I'm sure there is
nothing rude or offensive intended. I started to question her creation of a
"estrogen-intensive and testosterone-free zone". But any of us who are (or
have been) married, I think this is something that no self-respecting male
wants to be involved. In college, we would find these "zones" and conduct a
panty raid (oh those WERE the days) or bomb it with water balloons (and once
even a dead skunk, and we DID pay for that event).
But remember this, if women can have exclusively female events, they can't
complain when we have exclusively MALE events. And this DOES coincide with
the start of Monday Night Football.

Am I offended? Not really. I know that certain customs and manners on the
internet are not well known to all, which is why I am not surprised to see
my correspondence repeated in another newsgroup, without any personal
notification. Yes it is rude, but it is not as rude as shutting people out
of any gathering due to their race, religion, national origin, gender,
limitations or age.
I would like to know if the Women's Only Sewing being announced on the
Official Namron Newsgroup is an SCA function of the new Maysville group. If
it is, then there is a policy on Accessibility set forth in Corporate Policy
Chapter XIII. If it is a private something or other, should it be promoted
and announced on the official site?
It is a matter of diversity. Yes, I can remember when the SCA didn't have
all these rules and policies. Maybe it was better, maybe not. Times
change, Rules change. Membership in the SCA and using the SCA, Inc. as 'our
organization' means that we will abide by the rules of the SCA, Inc.
There is a difference between having seperate but similar facilities, or
facilities that are limited in use for certain groups, at certain times, but
available for everyone at some time, and having a function that is limited
to only certain federally defined groups.
I remember when we had shower facilities at events that were male only at
certain times, female only at certain times and coed at certain times. But
everyone could shower, eventually.
Holding a SCA function at a place inaccessable to wheelchairs is against the
rules, which makes it hard to have some meetings at some people's homes.
Holding an SCA event at a place that limits patrons to only 21 years old or
over is also against the rules, no matter how fun it could be. Holding an
arts and crafts function in a men's only area would probably raise many
notes of anger from our female members.
It all comes down to what is an SCA function and the modern age of the
internet. If you use an SCA information organ to publicize your 'meeting or
party' does it then fall under the same rules as if you published your
meeting in the hardcopy newsletter? Either way, do you have a
responsibility to the 'spirit' of the SCA Corporate policy not to hold
functions connected to the SCA, , in a manner that does not restrict access,
on basis of disability, race, religion, gender, age or national origin?

No I don't worry about people from Skorragardr traveling to any other place,
it is the best way to learn about the SCA, interaction with other
established SCA groups and members. The more you get out an interact with
other SCAdians, the more you will learn. Sometimes I am amused by newcomers
classes being taught by newcomers, I don't really understand that. It's
like all the students get together and ignore the teachers, (yes, Namron has
so many great teachers who can and do happily teach newcomers, if they will
but ask.)
It often amuses me to see people who admit to having very little knowledge
about the rules, customs and traditions of the SCA make public posts, but
then request that any corrections for their possibly incorrect information
that they passed out to everyone be made in private. Public, broadband
width, group emails should be answered publically, especially if there is
something being said that is against official group policy. Of course, if
people must take messages from one group and send to another without
notifying the original poster, just so you can prove the poster is wrong or
something, that is also not according to the unwritten rules of e-lists,
but sooner or later, just like gossip, it will come back to the creator.
Sometimes people say I am to forthright when I answer various posts, but I
am not known for passsing around their posts on other lists just to try and
make myself look good.
