"SCIENCE IN ACTION" DAY OFFERS SCIENTIFIC FUN FOR FREE

OU Physicians is sponsoring "Science in Action,"
from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, February 15, at the
Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History in Norman.

This free family event features more than 20 science and object identification stations scattered throughout the museum.
Museum curators and other natural history experts will be available to identify objects brought in by visitors.
Lubna Wani, M.D., OU Physicians internal medicine specialist in Norman,
will be on hand to provide blood pressure and blood sugar screenings at no cost to adult participants.

Visitors will enjoy the following:

 *   Live science demonstrations with "Mad Science"
 *   Learn about tornados and lightning with the National Weather Center
 *   Tour the night sky via the Star Lab Dome with Norman North High School's Astronomy club
 *   Learn how the human brain works with the Oklahoma Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience

Also, the Cleveland County Audubon Society will be providing information on identifying and attracting native birds,
and the Oklahoma Botanical Society will offer visitors a chance to view plant tissues under a microscope.
Museum curators and staff also will be available at stations that will feature
objects from museum collections, live animals and a host of activities.

Visitors are encouraged to bring in objects for museum scientists to identify.
Experts will be on hand to identify objects and answer questions about
paleontology, geology, archaeology, botany, mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians,
Native American Languages, and cultural objects from around the world.
The museum's conservator also will be available to provide pointers on
how to care for a wide variety of objects in home collections.
