Populace Meeting - 5/4/10
The Hidden Castle (parking lot), Norman

Starts at 7:42pm.

Lucas opened court on behalf of Their Excellencies. They called up
Droen O’Rourke and awarded her a Torsad of Namron. Lucas then closed
court and opened the populace meeting.

Baron/ess – Beltane was fun. The Barony did good work.

Seneschal – Hello. The Chronicler’s office remains open. I had
talked about stepping down at year end, but I need to do it sooner
because I’m starting school again. My office is open for applications
through the July populace meeting. I have three deputies (including
Bubba, who is *not* interested in doing the job), and they are good
candidates, but we’re willing to consider others. Monthly reports are
due to me by the 5th, which is tomorrow.

The Grand Assembly of Archers will be autocratted by Linus and
Colette. We need a tavern for this event. It’ll be at Dakani.

We’re looking for applications for the Protectorate Autocrat. Baric
is doing the feast for Protectorate. We’re planning to have
Protectorate at Danaki or the Rock Creek site.

We’re also looking for applications for the Beltane Autocrat for 2011.

A hat passing was done during the populace meeting to help cover the
costs of some of the personal gifts that were given out at Beltane.

Finally, there was an issue of late with someone else signing a
contract on behalf of the Barony. The Baronial Seneschal signs
contracts on behalf of the Barony…no one else. Please don’t let this
happen again to me or my successors.

Their Excellencies called up the Beltane Autocrats and thanked them
for their efforts.

Beltane Autocrats – We had so much help. Thank you to everyone for your work.

Treasurer - $7,950 in uncommitted funds. Beltane had no site fee due
to a work project we did at Dakani earlier this year, so I expect to
clear about $2,500 from the event. If you have things you want the
Barony to buy for your offices, now’s a good time.

Herald – Lots of local and kingdom awards given out at Beltane.
(Lucas listed out the awards. I didn’t try to write all of them
down.)

Chronicler – I still need applications for my replacement.

A&S Minister – we had a great competition at Beltane with 12 entries.
I was impressed with the quality of the entries.

Rapier Marshal – the Tavern Brawl at Beltane was a success.

Knights’ Marshal – We had a Dragon at Beltane. Everyone enjoyed it.
Our practice is drawing 10-12 people each time. We’re outside now,
unless it rains or really gets hot. We’ve had a couple of donations
to our shared armory, and we’re having some pieces made with Baronial
money. I’ve also added a Monday night practice at my house if anyone
is interested.

Hospitaler – This has been the best month I’ve had as a hospitaler. I
want more things to do. I see the hospitaler as something of a PR
person.

The Garb and Grub events coming up should be thought of as “mini
Medieval Faires”.

Archery Marshal – good time at Beltane, 24 children and 36 adults competed.

The next two archery practices are cancelled due to conflict.

Thrown Weapons Marshal – good time at Beltane, 34-35 people
participated in thrown weapons. There’s no practice on the third
Sunday of this month.

Skorragardr – meetings will be on the first Sunday of the month
starting at 5pm at Kidspace Park in Shawnee. (Kidspace Park is at the
intersection of East Wayne Street and North Center Street, on the
northeast corner.)

Donnchadh – thank you for everyone who helped with my retirement party.

Adena – I’m taking orders for period-style wooden folding chairs.
I’ll pick them up when I’m at Lilies. Cost is $35. You need to get
your orders to me by this weekend, and we’ll work out payment and
delivery.

Maleah – my son Adam is going back to Afghanistan at the end of the
month. I’ll take anything with me that people want me to give him
before he leaves. I also want to do care packages for him and the
others in his unit.

Alicia – I liked the water bottles that Wiesenfeuer was using. We
should get some.

Meraud – thank you on Tadhg’s behalf to the people who helped in the
kitchen at Beltane.

Etienne – a reminder that Einar’s Pelican ceremony will be at
Castellan, and both Tadhg’s Laureling and Conal’s Pelican will be done
at Coronation.

Droen – bardic practice on Thursday night at Hidden Castle

Baron/ess – our thanks to Lady Jacqueline for her efforts as seneschal.

Thursday night, we’ll be “drawing” the Kingdom Achievement on their
pavilion. We’ll be at the Hidden Castle starting at 6:30pm. Anyone
who wants to help is welcome.

At Castellan, we’ll have the baronial pavilion on the list field. If
you’re there, please come by and enjoy your barony’s pavilion. We’re
also doing a Namron encampment there.

Garb and Grub will start on Sunday, May 16th at noon at Reeves Park.
We will be in the “smaller” pavilion near the middle of the park.
Bring a dish to share (Grub), wear your medieval clothes (Garb), and
participate in the many activities.

Jacqueline – the next A&S night will be held on Monday, May 10th at
the Hidden Castle starting at 7pm (?). We’re going to be making new
SCA signs (“sandwich boards”). Please bring paint…Barat and I will
provide the rest of the supplies.

Ended at 8:36pm
