Have you ever admired a stunning Medieval Cathedral with its beautiful
Stained Glass windows and wondered "how did they do that?" Now you can find
out as the Medieval Fair Free Lecture Series presents "Stained Glass -
Gothic Luminosity" at 6:30 pm Friday Oct. 28 in the Norman Public Library
Lowry Room.

The Lecture will be presented by Dr. Susan Caldwell, Professor of Art
History of the University of Oklahoma Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine
Arts School of Art and Art History.

Dr. Caldwell discusses the overall effect of stained glass on Gothic
architectural interiors and how the glass manifests the medieval symbolism
of light. Stained glass has been called "a mystical building material of
Gothic" but since glass cannot support stone, a complicated building
structure had to be devised with balanced stresses and hidden supports in
order to allow walls to be opened up to great expanses of color glass.

Come learn more about the Middle Ages just for the fun of learning! No
papers, no tests, just interesting information about life long ago. The
Medieval Fair Free Lecture Series will be presented monthly.
