Holiday greetings and New Year salutations to one and all! May this missive find you and yours happy, healthy, and hopeful as we stumble into a new year. The Medieval Fair Department is thrilled to announce our upcoming events:
Thursday, Dec. 31st: Though tradition gives us 12 days of Christmas going well into January, the tax man only gives us until December 31st to take advantage of the special incentives for giving in 2020. The CARES Act provides increased charitable giving tax incentives designed to stimulate philanthropy throughout the nation in a time when it is needed most. More information can be found here: https://ou.edu/give/2020-tax-information You can show your support for all that Medieval Fair has been and will be again through a tax deductible donation at https://giving.oufoundation.org/OnlineGivingWeb/Giving/OnlineGiving/MedievalFair
Monday, Jan. 4th: Deadline for submitting artwork to be used in the 2021 Medieval Fair poster and on the t-shirts. Simply email an image of your artwork to medievalfair at ou.edu<mailto:medievalfair at ou.edu>. (There is a $250 honorarium for the artist selected!) Or, if you don't consider yourself artistic but have an idea of what you would like to see on the posters and t-shirts, visit our Facebook page The Medieval Fair of Norman<https://www.facebook.com/MedievalFair> and add your ideas for the submitting artists to the post there.
Friday, Jan. 29th: FIRST LECTURE OF THE YEAR!!! Professor Joyce Coleman, Rudolph C. Bambas Professor of Medieval English Literature & Culture and Director of the OU Center for Medieval & Renaissance Studies, will present J.R.R. Tolkien's Medieval Mythology. Watch your email for an invite and zoom link coming soon.
More lectures for February through April to be announced soon!
AND NOW FOR THE BIG NEWS....
The Medieval Fair Department has received permission to host an in person Medieval Fair Food to Go event at Reaves Park the same weekend as the Virtual Medieval Fair, April 9, 10, & 11, 2021! You will be able to go pick up your favorite fair foods and then take them home to enjoy while you virtually shop the artists and watch the entertainment from the comfort of home with no sunburns or wind chills to worry about.
