Greetings,
Unfortunately I've been dealing with transcription issues due to problems
with recording and my own health. Sorry for the delay. In any event, here
follows the minute's from Namron's Populace:
Namron February Populace
31 in attendance
Word Fame –
Losaneta received the Golden Comb of Vindheim.
Lady Aileen Bean Ui Maille received a Sable Thistle for Costuming.
HL Veronica de Sanguine is the new Queen’s Champion. The first woman
to win it through fencing in Ansteorran history and only the second Queen’s
Champion from the north.
Officers leaving their positions:
HE Kyna, HE Edwulf, and Lady Koke were called before Their Excellencies and
presented special Thank You scrolls.
A Moment of Silence was held for HE Gassion, former Baron of Eldern Hills
who passed away due to lung cancer on January 31st.
HL Darian was called up to talk about Medieval Fair:
Volunteers are needed.
We may have invaders from the Barony of Steppes attending this year.
Lady Isabella was called forward to talk about Beltane:
10 coordinators are still needed for Beltane.
Looking to schedule another planning meeting for the end of February.
Seneschal was called to speak:
Kyna volunteered to be the ER Deputy Seneschal. He’s currently looking
for a Deputy Seneschal as well.
Tavern bids for Beltane are being extended until March 23rd.
Application period is closed for offices that have received
applications. Open offices that have not received applications will still
accept them.
Beltane is scheduled on the Kingdom calendar for the year 2024 in
preparation for potential shifts in event dates. Protectorate 2024 isn’t
scheduled yet, as we’re waiting for more information on the potential
changes to the calendar.
Oak Spring’s event Nibs and Needles is postponed until later this
year, date to be determined.
We have been invited to be part of the Medieval Fair and Friends
portion of the Norman Mardi Gras parade, taking place on February 18th at
7pm.
Treasurer was called to speak:
Current monetary status is stable as there hasn’t been much going on
for a couple of months.
If you are in possession of anything purchased by the Barony it needs
to be put on a list to keep of track of where it is. Please email both the
Treasurer and the Quartermaster about it.
Knights Marshal wasn’t available, HE Kyna spoke:
Practice won’t be indoors for the next 3 weeks. If the weather is
good practice will be held outdoors. Information will be given out
regarding practices as soon as possible.
Web Minister was called to speak:
The Barony now has its own Award Recommendation form on the site. If
you see anyone who should be recognized, submit a form for them.
Upcoming:
Provincial Games (now past) in the Province of Mooneschadowe. Lots of
fighting, as well as Arts & Sciences, a Chess tournament, and general
merriment
Laurel Prize Tourney in the Shire of Ffynnon Gath on February 11th.
This is a good event to present your Arts & Sciences and receive feedback
from many Laurels throughout the Kingdom.
The Kingdom of Calontir is hosting Winter War Maneuvers in the Barony
of Vatavia (Wichita, KS) onFebruary 18th. Heavy focus on fighting and
melees, getting a chance to practice with our allies to the north before
Gulf Wars.
Gulf Wars is about a month away:
Talk to marshals and make sure your authorizations are up to date.
Check the condition of armor/weapons/tents/camping gear.
There will be a meal plan in the Namron encampment.
Registration ends February 28th.
Register your tent with HG Margherita if you plan to camp with
Namron.
Contact HE Vincenti if you can help transport Barony property,
especially
if you’re coming early.
Lady Haldora has been named Namron’s Rapier Commander for the year.
In celebration of Pie Day at Gulf Wars, bring a pie to share at March
Populace.
February Populace celebrated a Love of Learning. Every member wrote down
what they’re currently proficient with in the SCA and what they’re
interested in learning. Members who held a Grant of Arms or greater were
asked to list several arts/skills that they’d be willing to teach
interested members. They were then arranged in a half circle and numerous
speed dating rounds (about 3 minutes each) ensued, allowing the prospective
teachers and students to talk with each other and learn about their
interests and promote a Love of Learning.
Please read the next issue of the Plume.
Awaiting Kingdom Law changes being enacted before new officers will be
announced as one of the new laws gives the Populace a chance to offer their
input and the applicants.
Yours In Service,
Don Cornelius Meriläinen
Seneschal, Barony of Namron
