NR - Principality (there I said it)

Jean Paul posed the questions:
I am interested just
a) How we (the north) could become a principality
b) Why would we?
This discussion has shown up on this list periodically for the
last couple of months, and it has been nice to air our opinions, and
see what opinions others have.
In order to become a Principality, (I know that if I am wrong on
any of these steps, HE Gunhilda among others will step in and correct
me) we need to get a consensus from the populace, set up an officers
list (we already have regional officers in place) put together a set
of Principality Laws (all of this is surely in the Principality Packet
available from the Kingdom Seneschal) and discuss what sort of
Principality awards we want, when to schedule Coronet Tourneys and such.
Some of that preliminary work has started. On the list we have
discussed the need for a meeting to discuss how everyone feels about
all this, at Northern Regional Warlord in July. I think the
announcement will be in the May Black Star.
As to why, I think there are several reasons, but the biggest one
to me is the fun. It would be great entertainment to have some of the
flash and dazzle with our already existing region. We have half the
work, why not get the fun part!
Also, it would give some fighters a chance to win a Coronet, who
may never get the chance to win Crown. Someone on the list said that
we might end up hip deep in Vicounts. I don't see a problem with
that. Right now we are sort of deep in Court Baronies (and I am not
complaining, it is better than deep in alligators or even snow.) and
we have not been hurt yet.
And I have some pride in where I live. I think it would be cool
to see my pride demonstrated in the persons of our OWN prince and
princess, someone we know with a familiar political agenda. Fun!
What better reason is there?
