Not selfish at all, this is why most of us began playing this game and part
of my concern is for those like you who are new and might not really
understand all of the Principality issue. As the discussion grows you will
learn more about why both sides feel the way they do. I've always felt that
it's groups (not regions) that play the game different. Some better than
others but mostly just different. If you ever have an opportunity to go to
Bjornesberg (San Antonio) or to participate in a quest that they are
sponsoring at another event you will see what I mean. IMHO, I have always
thought that they were the best of the best at portraying the dream.
Maybe because we have so few old players and/or so many who have played the
game for only five or six years, but we in the North seem to get wrapped up
in issues and forget about portraying persona, hiding mundanities and trying
to make the dream real. I've never been very good at playing persona, but
being around Master Ulf and Finneogan is wonderful. They are two of our best.

These things are also of great concern to me. I hope we will think long and
hard and I think we will. I do not want Oklahomans to be perceived as
separatists. Many of us have good friends in the South and that will not
change.

This is another of my concerns. The best Crowns are usually (all of you that
want to jump on that, remember I said "usually") those with a lot of
knowledge and experience in ALL aspects of the SCA or have been Crown before.
They recognize the differences in the way each group plays the game. Now
and then you get those who forget that this is just a game, have little
experience and listen only to their own little group of friends. I'm
concerned that we would see much more of the latter in a Principality. I
know that no one likes to hear it, but we in the North can be pretty clannish
sometimes (I'm thinking clear back before Northern Regional existed).
Guess you have figured out that I'm not really in favor of a Principality. I
am, however, trying to listen (read) and keep an open mind. Many of you have
made some really good points. Keep voicing your concerns my lady, it's nice
to hear the perspective of someone who is new. Smile.
