[NR] NORTHERN REGIONAL WASTELANDS?

Greetings Unto the List:

On behalf of those of us still residing in The Crown Lands Formerly Known as The
Wastelands of Ansteorra I want to thank Master Finnacan for his kind words.

If, during our time as this Kingdom's most remote outpost, we were able to bring
the Dream to life for others, it is because the Dream was taught to us by those
who came before. We learned to fight as hard as we played, dance and pursue the
arts, and honor the ages-old tradition of hospitality by sharing our food and
drink. For us it was a Golden Time that left us all changed for the better. We
were family and the closest of friends and have remained in each others' lives
even though time does not permit most of us to play much if at all.

Seeing that our time was ending we chose to dissolve the Shire of the Wastelands
by our own hands and have never regretted that decision. No wake nor funeral
could compare with the love and celebration of the life of our little shire in
the northern most lands of this Stellar Kingdom. We were cradled in the arms of
those who had been with us throughout our journey and our passing was most
sweet, indeed.

Now, like storied Avalon, the Legend of the Wastelands grows! With the mist of
time shrouding our past and the considerable talents of a Current Middle Ages
Malory, we have the great honor of carrying the Dream into the afterlife. To
be referenced as a fabled land where the Dream came to life--what more could a
bunch of epic medievalists desire?

I, for one, have no desire to tinker with things as they are, and feel safe in
saying no one else in these Crown Lands will either. The Shire of the
Wastelands is dead. The Crown has decreed the name is released. There will be
no "gnashing of teeth" nor second-guessing from these quarters. If anything,
the fact that it has taken more than four-and-a-half years from the "official
disbanding" (which, if memory serves was quite some time after we'd actually had
our "final event" and dissolved all property) is more a tribute to the
incredibly slow pace at which bureaucracies move than a reflection of any desire
on the part of the former Wastelanders to stall or reverse the process.

The Northern Region is in the midst of claiming its own identity. I think the
Dream may be better served by allowing the Shire of the Wastelands and all her
kith & kin to remain in the mists and shadows while these most Northern lands of
the Stellar Kingdom of Ansteorra creates its own epic saga.

With Much Love and Bright Blessings,

Mistress Ceridwen Tir Gwstraff
Elder, House Wizard's Keep
Founding Seneschal of
The Shire of the Wastelands of Ansteorra of Blessed Memory

If people feel strongly about it, contact the Crown.

I suggested the name as a possibility, a godd possibility in my opinion, but I
won't contact the Crown over this myself.

The reason?

I am taking it as a sign, to leave the memory of the Wastelands untouched.
