[Northkeep] Brother Embroidery Machine PE-150V

Does anyone know about the Brother Embroidery Machine PE-150V or similar machines?  I was wanting to make some patches (Barony Patches) but I am unsure about the quality in relation to period and price for Machine, Card Reader/Writer and software to convert images to Card format.  Total package is $600-$800.  Has someone tried this before?
