Heilsa,
My original barony had a statician who was tracking demo data for fun. My experience seems to correlate with his study.

Over the last 20 years or more I've found one general guideline for demo's. Out of every ~100-150 people who see us you'll get 3-4 actually interested. One of whom will return/continue the association past the initial demo. The odds are better than even that person won't stay past 6 month's.

So, how do you beat those odds if you are looking to demos for recruitment?
- Lot's of demos.
or
- BIG demos with lots of people.

I'm not saying the SCA doesn't get people by doing demo's. I'm sure some who read this found the SCA by way of a demo. But they are the exception rather than the rule. Demo's are fun. They do serve a useful educational function. They inform people of both period and the organization. And who knows, someone who see's the demo might tell someone else about it. How many of you have heard the line "A friend of mine told me about..." I've heard it, heck, _I_ said it.

   Damon
