Greetings and Welcome to Northkeep!

It will be great to meet you in January. If you can be out sooner you might
meet some of the other members of the populace. On Wednesday at the park off
7th and Memorial, if the weather is nice, there may be fighter practice.
There is a lot to do in Northkeep when the weather cooperates. We do have
some youth and children's activities, your 15 year old can fight against
others his age but not against the adults...once he turns 16 that can
change, Northkeep has had one 16 year old graduate up and is working on a
second one. Centurion Angus McKockard and his wife Cianna OHare are good
people to talk to about that as both are their sons. We have a several young
ladies in the 8-10 age range and a few young men as well. If the 9 year old
is interested we do offer children's boffer combat. There is more to
Northkeep and the SCA other than fighting. The second Monday of the month is
needleworkers where people can go to work on projects and seek help with
ideas, or just to chat.

As for a persona that is not something you have to rush into. Think about
which time period or culture you are most interested in. A name is a good
thing to choose but for now we can certainly call you Teresa. Maybe by
picking a name it will help you find a persona...choose a name that you like
but not one that is shared with some historically or literary significant
person, for instance if you like Elizabethan England (late 1500's) you could
choose a name like be Mary Cabot but not Mary Tudor, or if you liked the
Norse people and the idea of the Vikings you could be Hilda Gullhar but
should stay away from names like Sif or Freya. A little thought and some
research can go a long way in the early stages of choosing a name and
persona and the cool part is that you can change if you find you do not like
your initial decision.

If I can be of any help to you please feel free to ask.

Kindly
Ian Dun Gillan
Baron of Northkeep

Subject: [Northkeep] garb and personna

Hello I would like to offer an introduction. My name is Teresa Hardy and my
son and myself are hoping to make your January meeting and joining. First
anyone who may need help we would be happy to offer assistance. We don't
have chainsaws but are willing to help as best we can. As I am new to this I
am having a hard time with persona and garb related questions. How does one
choose name and persona? Also my 15 year old son is interested in attending
events with me and would like to know what there is for him. He is
interested in fighting possibly( I'm not even sure if that's a possibility
due to his age) but neither of us has garb and he's also not sure where and
how to develop name and persona. I also have a 9 year old son who would
attend some events. With sincerest thanks to all, Teresa p.s. Sorry it was
so long a message.
