[Northkeep] Winter Kingdom Site

Checking the kingdom calendar...

Our original weekend, Dec 11-13, is no fuller than before.

Skipping the next three weekends for the holidays leaves

Crown Tourney, Jan 8-10, Raven's Fort
Centurion War College, Jan 15-17, Bryn Gwlad

King's Round Table, Jan 22-24, no location yet, so possibly in the North

Bonwicke Artisan, Jan 29-31, Bonwicke (and Coastal Invasion, Seawinds)

Candlemas, Feb 5-7, Bryn Gwlad

Kingdom A&S, Feb 12-14, no location yet.

So, our NEXT best bet at avoiding a Kingdom or Northern event is Feb 5-7, the next weekend after the one we had tentatively set.

Checking Calon's calendar...

They have a Clothier's Seminar that weekend, in South Johnson County, Kansas.

Hopefully that wouldn't draw a lot of people away from their Winter War College.

Their Winter War Maneuvers are January 16-17 in Lincoln. That's something different, right?

h, sorry---eeek. I gave him the Jan. 30 date. When he calls back I can check on
nother date if we have one in mind. Hopefully they are clear because it's
everal months in advance. There is a lot of outside space around the church. I
on't know if it's big enough to have a war practice at since I've never seen
ne, but I'd be happy to meet someone and show them the church if they clear us
nitially before a decision is made on our si
de. There is no indoor gym.

 Which date?

We can not use January the 30th as another Northern Regional group has an
vent scheduled that weekend.

 Kindly
 Ian

The news so far---I called Brian (the admin) back just to tell him where to
ind site info for the SCA. When we spoke earlier, he asked if there was a
ebsite or something similar to reference the group when he talked to the folks
here about it. I gave him sca.org then, but then I found that they have a
ocument especially for site managers, so I called again to point that out
pecifically---He said he checked on the date, and it's clear for that weekend.
hat would allow us to set up on Friday as well. He asked if we would need to
se their huge TV/projector screens or their sound system in the sanctuary--I
aid no probably not--just the overhead lights. With that info he said we're
ooking at about 400 to rent the entire building! I was shocked because that
eems so low for a place like this. Now he's just going to do some more
hecking, so if this sounds like a good site (I told him that I would pass the

nfo along and someone would likely want to
come look before they make a decision), cross your fingers, pray,
hatever--that they clear it. I think you guys would be really happy with this
lace!

 > I just got the phone call back from the administrator--they only work a half
ay on Friday when I called the first time. I explained the group, what we're
ooking for, etc. He told me that this is actually his last week, and so he
ants to run the info by someone else so he's not setting up a big event to lay
n someone else's lap to handle later. He said he would do that checking and
all me back--hopefully the price is right and the date is clear. One concern of
is was that since it was a Saturday event, things would all have to be in place
or Sunday morning church. This would likely involve moving the several hundred
hairs from the sanctuary back in. This would take several hands, but I told him
orthkeep is full of people who would lend their efforts to the set-up. Since I
leaned that place for months, the cleanup would be no sweat if several pitched
n. Anyway, just waiting on that call back. It really is a very nice church with
ery nice
 people.

already left a message for the administrator to call me back today--he's my
usband's cousin, so yeah, just need the date and what you think about how the
itchen sounds.

s a church here in Bartlesville called Grace Community that I used to clean.
t's really big. There are several children's classrooms (6 I think) plus four

arger classrooms--one of which is connected to a kitchen with a commercial
ooking stove/oven, a butcher block island, a deep double sink and another more
hallow sink with an overhead sprayer. The kitchen has a window that opens up
nto the hallway and into the classroom attached to it for serving. The
anctuary and lobby leading into it are both really big. They have several
undred members. OWU has rented the facility for banquets and used tables in the
anctuary and served food in there. It would be really sweet for court. They
lso have another building behind the church that is used for their youth. There
s plenty of outside space both beside and behind the church, lots of parking,
nd a concrete basketball court area

f someone could post which day we're talking. They usually only work a half day
n Friday though, so the sooner the better. Thanks.
