Kelandra is away teaching her students about Bede's saga of Beowulf. One of
her best tactics employed to draw their eager minds into the ideals of the
work is to mimic the hero of the Geats by boasting about themselves. In good
fun I thought to surprise her and so I wrote some boasts of my own...not
about me but her. What follows are my words hear them and now the lady I
love.
Who is she
She is the humble clerk and keeper of tomes.
By her duty and gracious deeds all the language of our land is learned,
She is the forger of poems and prose,
Through her works page and apprentice come to craft all manner of treatise
She is skald and tutor to the heirs of our future
By the fruits of her field is knowledge sown and reaped
She is the book-wife, wordsmith, and mistress of Lore
Who is she
She is.The English Teacher!
...
Key-holder and Flame-tender
She is mistress of my home and hearth and all that it entails
Heart-winner and ring-wearer
Sole beauty before mine eyes and lone inspiration to my every deed
Hearth-keeper and bed-warmer
She is what sends me out to a day's work and calls me home when it is done
Bond-oath, life's-love, and lady of my Heart
She is my all and my everything. My Wife.
...
So now you have heard my words and she who Kelandra is known to you. Thus
bards or any who feel brave and bold like a hero of old I set before this
challenge bring your best boast here to this forum and let us see thy
mettle.
Most Kindly
Ian
