[Northkeep] A little Northkeep History...

Anton and I will celebrate 20 years wed on Nov. 7 this year.  Adalia, if you and Geoffrey are half as happy as we have been you will be fortunate; but still I wish you twice as happy in the next 20 (if that is even possible).  I for one love a little romance at an event; it was at wInterkingdom in 1992 (I think) that I declared my love for Anton by publicly dedicating my performance of an Irish love song to him; the rest, of course is history.

Subject: [Northkeep] A little Northkeep History...

I believe the following events occurred at the 2009 Fall Queen's Champion
Tournament hosted by our fair Barony...but I could be wrong.  The exact
event matters not to the story.  It is only important to know that Owen and
Genevria were on the throne, and feast was held inside the hall at Will
Rogers'.  Head table had been setup at one end of the long hall and people
at the other end of the hall were curious as to what business was being
done at head table.  As the feast herald, I took it upon myself to be
'relay herald' and attempt to keep the lower end of the hall informed of
the goings on at head table.  It was while I was being the relay herald
that His Excellency Ian got my attention with the words "She's even a relay
herald...that's why she makes the big bucks".  I approached him and in jest
chided (with my hand outstretched) "Wait, you mean I get paid for this?".
We had a good laugh and he answered, "I'm no longer in charge of the
Baronial coffers.  You'll have to take that up with Facon."  We laughed
some more and I thought the joke was over and went back to the duties of
herald.  Our good friend Lord Gassion beckoned me over to him and asked me
which man in the hall was mine.  I called (then Lord, now Honorable Lord)
Geoffrey over and Gassion said to him "May I?" and directed his attention
back to me.  Neither Geoffrey nor I knew what he had in mind, but trusting
our friend, Geoffrey said, "Sure."  Gassion then took my hand and kissed it
gently, smiled and said "My Lady, you are now the highest paid herald in
the hall."  We smiled and laughed some more, then Geoffrey decided he
needed to make sure I was, indeed, the highest paid herald in the hall, so
he took a knee and then also kissed the back of my hand.

Now the visual here is a noisy hall, with a gentleman on one knee holding
the hand of the woman he loves...the tables around us were instantly
silenced in anticipation...His Excellency Ian then tried to assuage their
suffering by announcing loudly "It's just a kiss.  It's just a kiss."
Geoffrey looked up at me and whispered "You know, I ought to."  I
answered, "Go ahead, I dare you."

He took a deep breath and said loudly enough for most to hear, "Adalia
VonDerBerg, will you marry me?"  Of course, we all know I said yes...

One year ago, Geoffrey and I traded rings and vows and he made me the
happiest, luckiest woman I know.

Happy Anniversary, My Love!!
