The other option for final smoothing ( for those of us whose lack of skill means 
that scrapers don't leave the beautiful finish they should ) is sharkskin. This has 
a uni-directional grain which when rubbed against the grain is the equivalent of 
a fine grit sandpaper. I have not tried it on wood, but it works well as a metal 
finishing tool (cleaning metal blades etc.). Hope this is helpful.
