The "bickering" has consisted of the unfounded fears of one or two people
and the ravings of a psychotic sociopath. Any reasoned responses to these
folks posts have been twisted and "edited" to "prove" the point of the
dissenters. While there are problems in the Barony...just like every other
chapter of the SCA...those problems are not so deep or troublesome as to
cause major or long term damage to the group as a whole. With few exceptions
each and every member of this Barony are welcome in each others homes. We
all work together on projects, we play together at events, and we all
seemingly have the same goals. One major goal is the advancement and growth
of the Barony of Ravens' Fort.

To that end, good my friends and neighbors, please consider just who you
will nominate this Thursday. Each of you can nominate any couple in the
Barony you consider to be worthy of the high seats of Baroness and Baron.
They do not have to be a "couple" in the traditional sense...just good
friends that share a common dream of being Nobles in the Current Middle
Ages.

I also urge each and every one of you that live in the perimeters of this
Barony to come to the meeting this Thursday...if not to nominate then most
certainly to cast your opinion on the matter at hand. The more people that
we have at the meeting, to ask questions of the nominees, to express doubts
or to extol the virtues of the nominees, the better for all of us in the
long run. Folks...this is *your* Barony...there are those of us that have
seemingly been "in the game" forever...I might seem to be one of those folks
myself...but...once 17 years ago I attended my first populace meeting and
fighter practice. There were those that had been "in the game" for years
longer than I...and I felt then somewhat like many of you do now. However, I
stayed the course...when things did not go the way I felt they should go...I
bitched and complained...*smile*...but I did not quit. I worked long and
hard to do what I thought was right and correct. Some battles I won others I
lost...but I never quit. I have been a rebel most of my life...yet I have
learned that sometimes to change the system a person has to work *within*
the system. This I have done...and over the years changed the way things
have are done in the system. I still see many things that could be better
than they are now...I will continue to be the "rebel" and continue to work
*within* the system.

Raven's Fort is a dynamic place these days...we have *many* more folks
playing that we ever had before. We all have our opinions and differences...
Yet the fact remains that most all of us still play *together* rather than
let our differences tear us apart. So...good my companions and fellow
travelers...gird up your loins and stick to *your* course...the Barony will
be the stronger for it in the long run...*we* will be the better for it in
the long run. I am looking forward to seeing each of you at this Thursdays
meeting. Call your friends and neighbors to inform them of what is
happening. Car pool to get everyone here to the meeting.

Those of you that play with another group but reside in the Barony have a
stake in this as well... *Your* opinion's will help shape the future of this
Barony...*you* get to be a part of the process that will choose the leaders
of a strong neighbor to *your* home group.

And to those that reside in neighboring chapters yet claim Raven's Fort as
home...please attend and witness the process that will decide the next folks
that sit the Raven Thrones of our Barony. Ask questions, give comment, be a
part of the decision...as much as you can given the circumstances dictated
by the Crown and Crown Heirs of Ansteorra.

This type of mundane petty cheap shot has no place on this list. I request
that you keep your personal mundane political ravings limited to private
conservation or private correspondance.

That having been said...

Doug...my congratulations on the upcoming nuptials of your daughter. I wish
her new family and your new in-laws the very best of luck...!
