[Ravensfort] Virus hoax II

If you use one of the web based email services such as Hotmail, yahoo,
excite and others, then you really have little to worry about since they
scan all of the mail on the way in and check for viruses, Unless you go
through the download to your disk process, the software never makes it on to
your computer. Only *.zip(PC) , *.tar(Linux) or *.sit(Mac) files are really
dangerous. If you scan everything before you un-compress it you should be
fairly safe. Both Norton's and MacAfee can scan compressed files. Even
though tar and sit formats are not PC based WinZip will still unzip them.
This trick was used recently to sneak viruses onto PC computers. Since most
people don't bother to scan them.
