Greetings from Their Excellences Raven's Fort.......

In the recent days, there have been several messages posted,  with two,
very pointed, well written and should be taken to heart, concerning the
simple act of getting along in group dynamics....such as the Barony of
Raven's Fort and the use of the email list as part of communications in the
Barony.

We applaud both HE Brian and HL Jacinth for their excellent posts on the
subject of getting along and standing up for the right way to act and
re-act concerning the interaction of users of the list.

It is regrettable anytime that sanctions or restrictions must be used
to  keep something that is suppose to be a hobby in check. But, this is not
the first time I have seen that type of action taken. However, it would be
nice for it to be the last time.

We are trying very, very hard to grow, mold and move this Barony into
better times and away from the conspiracy spinning, back stabbing, smack
talking, letter writing, email sending, phone calling days of a few months
ago. Away from the personal disputes and feelings that boiled over and have
damaged the friendships of many years. Some of these issues have been going
on for years.

So, with this growing and molding, comes growing pains and changes. We
believe in a separation of responsibilities. As the Seneschal of the Barony
of Raven's Fort, Lady Clarissima  and her officers have our full support
and cooperation in her duties as the chief administrative officer for the
Barony and their duties as the warranted officers of the Barony of Raven's
Fort.

Likewise, we have her and their full support as the Kings representative
and responsibilities in our duties as the Baron & Baroness of the Barony of
Raven's Fort. It is thorough this separation, yet the counsel and
cooperation together of both "sides of the house" that business, actions
and great things are being performed.

We have been encouraging ideas, travel, classes, meetings and more that
will teach and entertain all that wish to learn of the SCA and the times we
re-create and study.

It is when personal matters get in the way, such as they recently have,
that people loose sight of the original goals and are caught up in the
frenzy of the dog fight.

Please, please, please...take these fine folks words at heart. Lay aside
your words, issues, hard feelings or whatever and work towards the single
common goal of making the Barony of Raven's Fort the best we can and show
the nay-sayers and ones that point and laugh from inside and out, that we
can get along. I assure you there are ones that say "Are they
fighting...again?" when Raven's Fort name comes up.

Let's show them that we no longer do that. That we can work online as we
work in person.

Tell folks that wish to post or act in an undesirable manner that they are
wrong! Stand up and tell them, to take their personal grievances and issues
else where. For we work for the Barony, together, as one of mind, heart and
body.

Someone said the other day, that after We are gone, what is to stop old
problems from coming back. I can tell you what will not allow that to
happen. New attitudes and the determination of the members of the Barony
will not allow those issues to return.

In the past few months, We have seen much progress. Some of it not readily
apparent. But many small changes begin to add to a big change. Look around,
count the number of people at Populace the other night, 46 people! With one
cause, to learn, fellowship and have fun.

We have people coming to Us and Clarissima wanting to be officers, wanting
to tell us about the ideas they have for an event. Wanting to do classes at
Populace, want to this...that and more.......

This is positive growth....the kind of growth and change that we need.

So with these closing words....We, the Baron and Baroness of the Barony of
Raven's Fort, Niklas Vasilevich and Kiabarta Kezia, ask and challenge ALL
that claim The Barony of Raven's Fort stand up, raise your hand into the
air and vow to make the change for us to be the best Barony in Ansteorra.

Come with us into the future.....lets show them all..........
