toleration and integration are 2 different things...
they tolerated the Christians...but it was still proscribed
for them to marry...hense would not have legitmate children who would
have carried islamic and christian names...

also you forget that those of the Islamic faith were presecuted
and killed or required to convert in the Reconquista of the 1100's
