  These books are fantastic. Though they are not set in the future; the actual date is set in 1999.  The 'Change' happens - no one know why - but the area around Salem, OR is suddenly and completely without technology. Engines don't work, guns don't fire, and nothing is the same any more.  Survival is suddenly not a sure thing!
   
  The story follows the reactions of 3 separate groups who unite to survive.  The SCA shows favorably in 2 of the groups and not so good in the third.  'Dies the Fire' is a wonderful book as are others of Mr Stiriling's penning.  The man does do his research!
