Well, if you want to base judge qualifications on actual brewing
experience, then someone should pry my lazy husband's butt out of his
chair since he is both an experienced brewer of many years and an
Artemisian championship foodie, with a lot of wins under his belt for
great tasting period food and drink (he never blows his own horn - I
have to do it for him). He designs his cross-country drives such that
he can visit various breweries and I can't even begin to tell you
about the various bottles he carts home of different brew products.

And then there's the never ending food and brewing experiments. It
never ends. I'm always finding some new strange thing in the fridge
or on the kitchen counter or in the bathroom. (At least my period
chemistry experiments are all outside - but Sean has to invade MY
KITCHEN!!! Arg!) Right now we have the mountain dew wine experiment
in the fridge and the native yeast experiment cluttering up my kitchen
counter. And of course, he never tells me about this stuff - I have
to trip over it first to discover these things. Did I remember to
mention the period beer grouet (sp?) ?

Mind you, he's not on the baronial mailing list so I can heap abuse on
him here and get away with it. But seriously, if you're looking for
someone with good period foodie credentials and solid brewing
experience as a judge for a brewing competition, consider HL Sean
Cleirech, who I just happen to be married to. I'll hopefully be
dragging him to populace meeting in two weeks (where I will have
period Italian ices, until I run out of snow, courtesy of Runa's abuse
racketeering)
