This was an amazing event. My only complaint was the couriers forgot or got lost and so no one told the sticker burrs to let allies through to the gate. I believe they were originally placed there to protect the lands from invaders but somehow someone neglected to tell the sticker burrs the difference between friend and foe. We did take the lllloooonnnnngggg route to the site the first time so Lord Devin was slightly late for the first Gate Shift. By the end of the event we knew 4 ways in and out of Sherwood Forest.

Lord Grishka was in charge of water bearing and Lord Devin made a marvelous one armed pickle cutting, cap washing addition. It was fairly easy to find the fighting field, one just had to pause and listen for the thwacks and clangs, then turn in that direction. The fighting field was large, the fighters numerous and the water bearers were run ragged.

Feast was wonderful, especially since I had no part in preparing it. Lady Cheer helped serve feast. Our table consided of Sir Kief, Lady Marie, Lord Devin, Lady Giovanna, Lord Pace and myself. Centurion Michael and his lady Valerie came to the hall after feast. Duchess Elizabeta dancing to Porkulus music was wonderful. As usual Lady Tarejia and Lord Alaric were awesome. There were several couples that danced to their music. Jalali was also present and we visited with her at the Hall. Which by the way was wonderful. Think tree trunks as poles and braces.

The Shire of Ffynnon Gath did an excellent job with their event.

In the words of His Majesty, "Court will be longer than usual but it will be epic." And epic it was. Many Sable Comets were given as well as AoA's and a Sable Thistle and A Lion of Ansteorra. 2 Court Baronies were also given (Don Robert McFarland's wife was one) & of course the Knighting, which was beautiful and moving. The Raven's Fort table had in the front asile seats so we saw all the action.
I sat the first gate sift with Mirabelis and Sir Everits and we had an awesome time meeting people and welcoming them to War of Ages. The site was beautiful, the fighting heroic and dusty, the A&S and Bardic were great...and the feast was delicious and plentiful! After the feast Porkulus played to the many revelers and Lady Tarieja was enchanting as she entertained the crowd with her belly dancing.
It was one of the best events I have been to in quite some time. The people of the Shire of Ffynnon Gath are warm and hospitable. If you missed this event then you missed something truely wonderful.

  Greetings everyone,
While I could not hope to compete with our Lemoine's talented writings of his travels, I will tell of our going's on at War of Ages simply enough.
We had a good showing from Raven's Fort with approximately 15 members going! We had a great encampment in two areas of the site. Pace and I sat gate in the evening and morning respectively. Our own Mirabelis ran the entire gate and was tirelessly at the job for many hours on both days. We got to see many peoples entering the site as over 400 showed up to celebrate the many happenings to occur there. The site, our first time, had many awesome buildings and I was impressed at all that had been built in such a short period of time. It was dusty however as no rain had fallen in many a day and the sticker burs were a constant source of discomfort. None the less a great time was had by all. The vigil was fun to listen to with much laughter and merrymaking until the wee morning hours. Then the fighting began and it was awesome. The list was large with much fighting , archery bolts flying and laughter and grunting etc. on both sides. And true to period it was very dusty as well. Great clouds of dust arose as the fighters charged each other constantly. The rapier tourney on the village streets was fun as well. Much clanging of swords was heard as they went at each other.
There were a few nice merchants to visit too. The bardic was fun and entertaining.
Then in the evening, feast was served and it was very tasty and the food just kept on coming!!! We had a Raven's Forters table right near court and all the action! Many awards were given by the Crown and Their Heirs. The knighting ceremony was moving and many a tear was shed as each person told of Sir John's great deeds.
After court our own Porkulus gave a mini concert and did all of us proud. And I am still picturing beautiful Tareija balancing a sword and her exotic and intoxicating dancing to the music. I can also still smell the BACON! that was served to everyone! The hafla after wards was a nice ending to a wonderful event. Pace and I got to practice the beats on our drums until we retired to bed and listened to the rest of the fun and merriment until the morning hours. A nice lullaby after a long weekend of eventing and fun.
If I forgot something I apologize and encourage others to add to the memories.
     A tired but happy, Giovanna
