[Ravensfort] Quoth issue- Legalities

The SCA has to protect itself and its members.  Personal addresses which are published on the web are available to anyone and I can't even tell you the number of times my Black Star was open and obviously read before delivery...  So I do not consider it "lunacy " to make sure that people's privacy is protected.
The Quoth is available to anyone in and out of Kingdom and its function is to announce events and happenings in the group as well as offering a way to contact officers, not private individuals.  A domesday book however is a big address book that is distributed directly to the individuals requesting a copy within the Barony, so the information does not get spread out every where.  Much less risk of losing privacy...And something very different from the Quoth.

Not sure what all this hooha is the result of, or for.  The idea is to meet/connect with others, share ideas/experience/knowledge/interests, right?  That's why we have public gatherings and publish things like Black Star and Quoth the Raven, right?
Any time I publish, it is with the hope that a similarily interested reader might respond, so I want my SCA name on it and my eMail address below my name, or as least available in the Doomesday Book.
As for the Doomesday Book, our entries were self-posted, no question of anyone listed not wanting that information available.   Displaying our coats-of-arms, as it were, not a blank shield!
I'm sorry, but my personal opinion is that this is past bordering onto lunacy!

I never publish personal info unless specifically directed.  In general, I try not to do it.

Kind of pointless to not have email, considering the context, but oh well.

In general, the SCA name and email address is what has been done.  After all, they want to be contacted.  I avoid RL addresses and phone numbers.

Anyone who has dealt with me has been counseled against posting personally identifying info.

I may as well take down the officers page, alter the event page, and remove the domesdsay until further notice.

This comes from the Board of Directors and affects local newsletters,
kingdom newsletters, event ads, heraldry letters, and web sites.

So someone will have to go through the Raven's Fort website and
look at everything.

There are new permission to publish forms and requirements for
permission to list any personal information.

Gleann Abhann won't publish ads for events without signed permission
of the autocrat, feastocrat, as well as permission to publish from anyone
drawing a map for the ad.

I don't know what the policy is about an email address.
That is the little I have heard of it.

page of the quoth, I need your updated contact information. Otherwise, and I WILL do this, I'm putting nothing below your name. Apparantly the chronicler is not allowed to distribute personal information without permission, so if you get this, tell me as soon as possible so it can be fixed.
