[Ravensfort] Spring Event idea

Greeting

A few of us have been playing with the idea of a masked ball for our spring
event. I have stuck up my hand and said I would autocrat. I am also coping
everything to this point that we have talked about on facebook so everyone
has working idea of what has been talked about

maybe we should do an event that centers around the st. vitus dance and
ergot poisoning! that could be one fun and weird event!

        Ric Peavy Sounds like a great idea for the spring. Maybe incorporate
a Kingdom Dance Symposium into it?

        Sam has an idea for a masked ball for our spring event. So at King's
College Amy and I talked to as many people as we could on how to do a masked
ball. What we were told by folks that ranked from Non-awards to almost all
the way to the top of the OP was that having dance classes during the day,
starting feast about 3:30 to 4:00 P.M. ending feast some time around 5:00 to
5:30. Make feast a light buffet style feast. Then about 6:00 P.M. kick off
the masked ball. They also said that this should be an indoor event. The
problem is renting a hall. All of the people that I talked to said doing a
dance type event outside is a very very bad idea at best

        Lady Runa What about the Crockett American Legion Hall, we can camp,
have horses if we want and they do want us back.

        Lemoine de Gascoigne That would be cool, I have never been to the
Crockett American Legion Hall, but that sounds great. Also you need to keep
in mind you need room for different dance classes to be going on at the same
time

        Cam Battaglia I'm sure the American Legion would like it ... if you
are seriously considering it, I can get my sister (she is the Chaplan) to
ask about availability of the hall.

        Lemoine de Gascoigne It was also pointed out that you will have
people that don't want to do dance classes so having room for a fighter
practice and horse stuff would be good. In fact that would be very good

        Lady Runa That's where the Demo for Tori Cantu was. Fighters,
Equestrian, and stuff in the hall

        Lady Runa We were at Round Table when the Demo was going

        Lemoine de Gascoigne I will autocrat if I could get about 3 or 4
people help out.

        Cam Battaglia I can help with the Hall ... but we will need plenty
of advance notice as they do have things like Bingo and such going on. So,
if you can set a date, I can ask my sister to see if it is open.

        Nancy Howell our Gate's Edge Fall event (Sept 9-11) is Plague
themed-"Bring Out Your Dead"-it's shaping up to be very merry & irreverant!

        Cam Battaglia Oh ... and they are sprucing up the RV park and such
to make the camping more "comfortable." I know for a fact that the showers
in the RV area are very nice and cost $50 per day to cover the cost of
water.

        Dominique Epps we already did. It was the last Quest. It was about
ergot poisoining & Beowulf.

        Ric Peavy Ummmm...Beowulf and Grendel are not gods. One's a
Scandinavian hero; the other is a monster. Both mortal. In fact, both died
in the poem's plot.

        Irial Mulcahey Love the idea for spring event! We should talk date
so we can get it to Cam and the Kingdom Calender.

        Amy Lee Beers how long ago was Quest ?

        Lemoine de Gascoigne Looking at the kingdom calendar and the only
really good weekends that are left are Feb 24-26 or March 30 -April 1 The
other weekends are the weekend before and the weekend after Gulf Wars.

        David Brown take february. and so we did something way before. this
will be much different.

        David Brown and we have not done a quest in many many many many many
many many years. so this would be not be anything like it.

        Lemoine de Gascoigne We also need to find out when we can get the
hall in Crockett and how much it is going the cost.

        David Brown well at least we need to save the date.

        Lemoine de Gascoigne How do we go about doing that?

        David Brown ask kitsune to put in for it. even if we can not get the
hall, we do not want to do another event after gulf war again. do we?

        Lady Runa Feb would be my vote also

        Lemoine de Gascoigne I am not sure how bad the weekend before GW is
but it can't be that good. I sent Cam Battaglia a message to have her sister
check into the hall for us.

        David Brown before gulf war everyone is getting ready. after gulf
war everyone is tired. feb. is a nice cool (sometimes cold) month...perfect
for indoor event and kinda outdoor.

        After talking to a bunch of folks about a masked ball. One of the
questions I asked was what to do before the dance started and it was pointed
out that a baronial college where you had a lot of dance classes along with
non dance classes for the people that already know how to dance and the
people that just don't dance. Then for the fighter types have a fighter
practice along with fighting classes. So I was thinking that we could call
the event Raven's Fort Baronial College and Masked Ball. I am open to other
ideas Almost forgot we could set up horse classes for the horse people.

        David Brown perfect. can we work saint vitus into the title? this
did stem from me saying that it could be fun and crazy to do something like
that...or we could not and just do the dance thing and other classes. i do
not dance but would be up for having other classes.

        Lemoine de Gascoigne I trying to figure that out myself. I am not
real sure how to get it in the title, but I have a few ideas for the event
announcement.

        David Brown cool. we can work on a title. we need to save the date.
use a place marker for now.

        Lemoine de Gascoigne David Brown hay if you could think up a few
titles and post them I will also brain storm on some ideas and I bet between
you and I we can come up with a great title

        David Brown let me think.

        Lemoine de Gascoigne I just looked up St. Vitus and he is considered
the patron saint of actors, comedians, dancers, and epileptics. So we could
call it something along the line of the Saint Vitus masked ball
