[Raven's Fort] Meeting Minutes from the July Populace Meeting

Greetings unto the Barony of Raven's Fort,
Once again, thanks to Mistress Annes, here are the minutes from the July
populace meeting:

Ravensfort Populace meeting; 1st Sunday of the Month at the Unitarian
Church @ 142 E. Mosely St, Huntsville, Tx.
Notes taken by Mst. Annes. Any mistakes in transcription are totally on me.
Meeting called to order at 2:21 PM. 18 people attended.
Seneschal/Fionna: Welcome! Hope everyone is staying cool. The poll
concerning the times of the populace meeting was overwhelmingly in favor of
2 pm. We have signed papers for the event in February. Please remember that
Defending is rapidly coming up. The Event Steward will be speaking to that
soon.
Reeve/Maria: Absent due to not feeling well. Seneschal says we have money.
Knight Marshall/Eogan: The practices in Madisonville have been suspended
for most of July because of being out of town. Stay hydrated.
Herald/Meash: Has been working on applications. We have new books! Also
have a CNC laser engraver and can now engrave people’s arms for them.
Rapier Marshall/Chrystal: Practices on Wednesday at Candy Cane Park. The
last two practices only 1 person showed up. On Facebook group have made a
list of Sunday practices-9 to 11 am at Emancipation Park. Will try to make
these into a Facebook Event. Also working on finding silent auction things
to give to Annes. Remember to hydrate BEFORE you begin practice!
Archery Marshall/Dragon: Every Monday at Madisonville and one Sunday in
Huntsville at Dragon's Lair. Archer will be on the 17th in Madisonville and
the 23rd in Huntsville. Reduced practices at Madisonville due to G&C being
at Pennsic. Hydrate! Financial committee, please look at the budget for
archery equipment so people aren’t putting their own budgets out there for
the equipment.
Thrown Weapons/Gisele: Start on July 17th in Madisonville. Goal is to be on
the 3rd Wednesday in Madisonville. Jotan has trees she can harvest and jut
into rounds for targets. All donations will be joyfully accepted. Targets
in the process of being made.
Hospitaller/Gisele: Newcomers in the populace today! Very sweet couple with
two small children. I will be stepping down at Defender. Loaner garb will
be at site workday and at thrown weapons practice.
Baron/Jean-Michele: Marie is out sick today. We are still looking for bids
for the Spring event. It is HOT!!! Please be understanding of officers when
practices are canceled. They are just trying to keep everyone safe. Jotan
asked if wanted to hold practices inside the church? All that is needed is
the paperwork. We will talk. Site work days for defender-more people
helping is needed. This coming Sunday on July 9th. NOTE: there are 6-7
small cedar trees in the archery/thrown weapons area of the Stones that
MUST NOT be touched. Off limits! Do not harm them! The owner wants them and
we are to honor that wish. Baron and Baroness are traveling to Kings
College and will attend the virtual Roundtable. Crown tourney is now in the
summer and the heat was brutal. We are really looking forward to Defender.
Autocrat for Defender/Meash: Brought the scrolls to work on. Very simple
designs; Can help here if you want. The Port o Potties have been rented.
Insurance not seen yet, waiting on a response from the corporate. Should
have something soon but equestrian insurance is behind. Equestrian
preparation is hard and the insurance is expensive. Again, do we want to
keep having Equestrian? Wait and see about the turn out at Defender.
Waiting on Royal Lancer folk coming out to lay out the field. Feast has
been posted. We still need more champion prizes. So far I have the half
cloaks. If you wish to donate, see Meash. The site tokens are the cooling
cloths. We need a person to run A&S and the brewing competition. Populace
vote for A&S. Not for Brewing. Will use the Mead Hall for the Royals to use
as changing/chill out space. Tuesday, July 11th at 7:30 pm is a zoom
meeting for continuing to plan Defender. Crossposted to Barony & the
Planning group. Jean-Michele will have the list field poles at the July 9th
site workday. Site will open by 7:30 am for work day. Royal Feast arms on
chairs (hard to hear) Busa and Elrique are planning a “Dolfin” feast. In
honor of Dolfin, if possible, make and wear a pair of Dolfin pants (wild
prints like duckies or smurfs). Friday night is silly revel night planned.
Coffee will be needed in the morning.
Herald assistance is needed for the event. Still need a list mistress.
Gisele needs 2 yards of fabric per bag. 10 total price baskets…8
competitions and 2 kids possible. Scroll painting will happen just don’t
know when yet.
Open Discussion: Mst. Annes suggested the barony look into building a Wish
List on Amazon similar to what the Ansteorran Longship has on their FB
page. A link to the wishlist is pinned to the top of the page. Persons
wishing to buy and donate items to the barony use the link to pick out and
pay for items needed by the barony from the wish list. The items are sent
to a designated person who address and name are hidden to the public but
known to Amazon. No money passes through the barony. Annes will check with
ALS company to see how they set it up. The barony needs a social media
officer. Digital cards-can still have paper. Sept 16-anniversary of the
passing of Michael Twin Cedars.
