siege pasta 8/4/97
I don't have my books with me, but
from a section (health) of a book on women in the middle ages, I remember a
recipe that sounded like pasta flavored with carrot. I will look it up
tonight and make sure I am not off my rocker- but I have had carrot pasta
before and it has a nice nutty slighlty sweet flavor. I would make little
lozenges and after cooled toss it with a bit of garlic and olive oil and very
sharp cheese (like asiago)
also, from somewhere else I will have to look up- ravioli stuffed with cheese
and squash or something (now that i think of it- is "winter" squash at all
period? maybe I am remembering one of those way borderline recipes that creep
into more rennaisance recipe books)
