One suggestion for local cooks guild goes with what his Grace mentioned
earlier - rather then doing a potluck, cook the food there and eat it
while discussing it's making.  I've seen that work well!  A previous
Barony I lived in rotated whose house we met at, with the host buying the
ingredients and everyone cooking together once we got there.  The result was
usually a bit of a mess, a LOT of fun, some good food and some learning.
No one needed to be intimidated, because they could learn with everyone
around rather then having to figure out something on their own. We would then
try to publish the best recipe and annotations in the group newsletter.

It worked, and got far more people involved...
